Week 3 Final: The Long Awaited Conclusion!!
Hello all!! Once again we dive into this cyber world to discuss the topics I am learning through RTV 453. Earlier this week I introduced you to a social media tool called Mashable. In this post I am going to give the people (digital and otherwise) what they want!! I will finish my grand tale about Mashable. Prepare yourselves settle in with the popcorn and all the snacks because this post will be a long one.
So as I teased last week, I gave you a nugget of information about Mashable from their own lips so to speak. “Mashable is a global, multi-platform media and entertainment company. Powered by its own proprietary technology, Mashable is the go-to source for tech, digital culture and entertainment content for its dedicated and influential audience around the globe.” After further research and study I discovered that this tool is similar to a hyperlocal news source, with different segmented sections for the different topics of interest, such as entertainment, tech, culture, etc.
I also teased you guys last week with the fact that Mashable, has 5 different formats for the 5 different countries and continents it reaches. Those five are the UK, Asia, Australia, India and France!!! This site is a free site to use, and you don't need to remember a different login, you can use your Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or LinkedIn Account to sign into Mashable. That idea is a super efficient way to monitor how many people are viewing your site as well.
Another benefit of Mashable is that their news team not only posts hard hitting news stories, they post heart warming videos and opinion pieces covering a wide range of topics, from tech to entertainment reviews.
When turning the microscope back towards our own Hunt County Buzz, I think that if we were to emulate the layout of Mashable in respect to the range of topics covered on the site, then more users would be drawn in to reading it and if we had an event out among the living then they may even show up to that and support us off the screen as well as on.
In conclusion, in my humble opinion the main reason that Mashable has prospered so well for so long is in part by the wide range of topics but in the simple fact that the site itself reaches out across the five countries and continents.
Thank you for sticking with me during this post and I hope that it was worth the wait. Here is a link to Mashable should this post have tickled your curiosity just a bit. Until next time...
